Is the process of converting a steel surface to iron phosphate.

Phosphating consists of applying a zinc phosphate coating on steel parts by immersing them in a warm diluted solution of phosphoric acid. Its crystalline and porous structure enables it to receive other treatments: it can be completed either by oiling to optimize the anti-corrosion properties or by lubricating which will give the parts better friction control.

Painting a steel part? Zinc phosphated surfaces are best prepared to receive paint due to the unique bonding properties this coating provides
